![]() ![]() If there is no shared network drive or file hosting service between the PC's, you can simply use a USB drive or similar to copy the updated DB between the PC's. ![]() So it is probably easier to handle this with XnView. I've mainly only ever used the portable version of FastStone, which stores the db in the program folder - I think the installer version of FastStone puts the database in the AppData folder. Note that XnView lets you specifically select the folder for 'other' files (including the database) in its options. If you have a shared network drive between the PC's or you have a file sharing service such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Sky Drive etc, just set the database files to a folder on that shared drive (or folder for the file hosters), and when you install the programs on the other PC, point them to that drive/folder. You could do this in a couple of ways.Įasiest method. You simply install the program to your other PC and then copy the database files to your other PC. If you want one with more features - including the ability to add notes to your files - go with XnView (tagging in XnView MP is much better than in XnView Classic and I would normally suggest it, but unless you are comfortable with Beta software, stay away from MP for the moment). If you want a simply cataloguer, go with FastStone. MP is designed to run on Windows, Linux and Mac, but is still very much in Beta (and does not have feature parity with classic as yet). XnView MP is an image browser, viewer, manager, and converter which runs on multiple platforms like Windows, MacOS, and Linux. Note that XnView 'Classic' (which is the current stable version, and which is Windows only), is being slowly phased out for XnView MP (Multi-Platform). If you want payware, go with ACDSee - it doesn't have too much in the way of competition at that end of the market. The two I'd suggest - depending on what features you want - are:īoth are freeware. There are a large amount of image cataloguers out there. * If one sends me some answers by PM ( private message or MP in french as well), I can edit this first post and add answers with colours, so it will be easier to read in the future. "Relocate" is used when folders have been moved or renamed out of XnViewMP, so it will be able to rebuild links with moved files, in it's DB. "Delete" removes selected folders from the catalog. ![]() "Add Folder" button makes XnViewMP read metadata and add information in it's DB (=catalog), only if "import" option is enabled in settings, metadata. It means that files or folders deleted (out of XnViewMP) must be removed from DB. The XnViewMP version it looks very promising. orphaned files are files that were deleted out of xnviewmpįor all these questions : what about star ratings ? color labels ? people ? Tags ?
